Connector Questions

What should I bring to my appointment?

You should plan on bringing several pieces of information with you to your appointment to help the signup process go as smoothly as possible. You should bring:

  • The social security number of everyone who will be on your plan. You don’t need the social security card, just the number itself;
  •  Your income information. A recent W-2 or pay stub would be helpful;
  • Information about any insurance you may have at the moment. The insurance policy number is all you need to bring. Don’t have insurance? Don’t worry about this step.
If I can’t go to my appointment, what should I do?

If you can’t make your appointment, please call the organization your appointment is with. You can find the phone number in the appointment confirmation email or text message that you received after scheduling your appointment. When you call, you may cancel or reschedule.

What should I expect during my appointment?

When you set up an appointment with local help, you can expect to sit down face-to-face with someone who is trained to explain your health insurance options available through the Affordable Care Act. They will help you understand the plans, how financial help can make your plan more affordable, and (if you choose) walk you through the process of signing up for a plan.

Will I be enrolled with just one appointment?

While every application counselor is certified help you understand your options and choose the best plan for you, everybody’s situation is different. Often, people can get covered in a single appointment, but sometimes it may take more than one appointment to complete the process. The best way to avoid needing multiple appointments with a counselor is to bring all of the necessary information with you, and to plan ahead so you know what kind of plan you’re looking for and what makes sense for your budget. Can I use a landline phone number instead of a mobile phone number? How will I get text message reminders to a landline phone?

You can use a landline phone number but you won’t receive your text message confirmation if you choose to do so. When you schedule your appointment, you’ll see a confirmation screen. The confirmation screen will have your appointment information. You can save it to your calendar, print it, or write it down.
