Cover Arizona Weekend of Action
March 3, 2014
Over the weekend, Arizonans statewide attended events in Glendale, Mesa, Tucson, Flagstaff, Apache Junction and Yuma as part of the Cover Arizona Coalition’s March 1st Day of Action, aimed at getting people to start or finish their health insurance applications in either the marketplace or through Medicaid (AHCCCS).
It was a rainy day in the Valley of the Sun, but that didn’t stop people from coming to enrollment fairs to find a way to get covered. Some consumers had not been able to complete the enrollment process before, while others wanted to look at affordable options for a later date. Esther Sanchez of Mesa is one of those planning for the future, saying she wanted to shop now before she retires in May, when her current policy expires. “You never want to go without health insurance because you don’t know what can happen,” she said, when asked why she attended the event at Mesa High School.
Various sites in Tucson were also busy, as more than a dozen locations had their doors open to help answer questions and walk people through the application process.
We are now in the final stretch of a month-long, intensive effort to help people Get Covered by the March 31st Health Insurance Marketplace deadline. The best part about browsing through health plans? You will likely qualify for financial assistance to pay the monthly premiums, as more than 70% of Arizonans have been able to take advantage of this type of help. To see how much you would pay for health insurance, visit our online calculator at www.getcoveredamerica.org/calculator.
