INFOGRAPHIC: Get Covered America Reached Thousands of Ohioans over Past Year about Health Coverage Options under Affordable Care Act
May 5, 2015
COLUMBUS, OH – Today, Get Covered America released an infographic highlighting their work with the uninsured leading up to and during the second enrollment period of the Affordable Care Act’s Health Insurance Marketplace.
“Our team in Ohio took lessons learned from the first enrollment period to continue to engage our grassroots coalition of volunteers and partners to reach thousands of Ohioans about their health coverage options under the Affordable Care Act,” said Get Covered America Ohio State Director Trey Daly. “And due in part to our work, over 234,000 Ohioans have enrolled and now have the peace of mind that comes with knowing that they and their families will be covered in case of an illness or injury.”
The infographic highlights numbers from the Ohio State of Enrollment Report which includes data and observations from the outreach and enrollment efforts in Ohio over the last year.
Key figures from the report include:
- Nearly 73,000 Ohioans reached out to by Get Covered America staff and volunteers from April 2014-Febuary 2015,
- More than 3,700 appointments with enrollment assisters scheduled through Get Covered America’s online scheduling tool the Get Covered Connector,
- More than 1,000 consumer outreach and training events,
- Nearly 2,000 volunteers donated time to the Get Covered America campaign, and
- More than 200 partner organizations were engaged to help in the outreach and enrollment effort.
Get Covered America will be highlighting numbers from this report and other data and observations from the previous enrollment periods at State of Enrollment Conferences across Ohio in July. Cities include: Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, Toledo, Akron, Youngstown, Canton, Lorain, and Athens.
Though the open enrollment period ended on February 15, many Ohioans still have the opportunity to get covered now. Life changing events such as getting married, having a baby, or moving to a different coverage area among others, may trigger a special enrollment period for Ohioans throughout the year. For low and moderate income Ohioans who are newly-eligible under expanded Medicaid, enrollment is year round.
To find if you are eligible for a special enrollment period or expanded Medicaid, Ohioans can schedule an appointment with an enrollment assister by visiting the Get Covered Connector, at connector.getcoveredamerica.org or by calling 1-800-648-1176.
