Need Health Coverage by January 1? Tucson Health and Wellness Fair Aims to Help So. Arizona #GetCovered
December 10, 2014
TUCSON, AZ – A one-stop shop to help Arizonans get a pulse on their current state of health and sign up for health coverage will take place this weekend in Tucson, where Pima County residents can start and complete the application process to #GetCovered by the first of the year.
While the Open Enrollment period to sign up for health insurance continues through February 15, 2015, Arizonans who want their coverage to begin on January 1, 2015 must apply for and choose a medical plan by Monday, December 15 at 10:00 pm Arizona time.
The fair will have a family party type of atmosphere, with entertainment, food trucks and special guests. Additionally, there will be health screenings, flu shots and health education and community resources available. Consumers may schedule an appointment for enrollment assistance by filling in the survey at this link. (Walk-ins will also be accommodated with proper documentation, such as social security numbers for all applicants, pay stubs and/or tax forms and valid ID cards.)

Arizonans who are currently uninsured are welcome, as well as those who are covered through the Health Insurance Marketplace but want to switch plans. Enrollment assistance will be provided for both the Marketplace and Medicaid through the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS).
More than 120,000 Arizonans got covered through the Marketplace during the first Open Enrollment period ending in March of this year, with nearly 77% of those qualifying for financial assistance to help pay their monthly premiums. As of last month, some 230,000 additional Arizonans were covered through AHCCCS expansion.
