Ways for Public Officials to Engage in Outreach & Enrollment
We want to engage public officials who work with Enroll America and our partners to share best practices as we reach out to help consumers enroll in health coverage. We will update this document every month during the open enrollment period(s) to reflect ongoing activities and ways to engage with the different pieces of the Get Covered America campaign.
If you or your staff are interested in working with Enroll America, please contact email@example.com.
Here’s what you can do:
Use the Resource Hub
We’ve compiled this Enroll America Resources Inventory
to showcase the materials and tools you can use to increase your enrollment outreach. The inventory provides step-by-step information on studies, state-by-state policy statics and data, outreach best practices, digital tools, and many more resources we have developed with our partners.
Attend Monthly Webinars for Updates
Submit an Op-Ed to Your Local Paper
We will work with you to craft an op-ed for your local paper on the importance of getting your community/district covered. These are great tools to help consumers learn quickly and clearly about their new health insurance options.
Engage Local Assisters
As a public official, you can identify enrollment assisters in your area as they help local residents apply for affordable health insurance. This is a great way to spotlight and elevate the great work being done by Navigators, In-Person Assisters, Community Health Centers, and Certified Application Counselors in your area. Engaging local assisters can help validate their work and get the word out to consumers that free, local, expert help is available.
Here’s what you can share:
The Get Covered Locator: Find Local Assistance
Public officials can increase awareness of local help available to consumers by sharing our Get Covered Locator
with constituents and partners. We’ve found that many consumers want in-person help when applying for health coverage. To that end, the Get Covered America campaign has developed this tool to allow consumers to quickly and easily look up in-person enrollment assistance in their area. Consumers can then call any of these assisters to set up an appointment, and can get the list of local experts sent to them via email or text message.
The Get Covered Locator is also available over mobile phones. Just text LOCATOR to 877877 to receive a list of nearby assisters.
The Get Covered Calculator: Estimate Your Costs
The Get Covered Calculator
provides consumers an estimate of their monthly premium costs in the Health Insurance Marketplace based on their ZIP code, annual income, age, and number of people in their household. The calculator can be embedded
on your official (non-campaign) website. This tool is also useful if your staff receive calls from constituents who ask for their estimated cost.
Each week we will be sending out success stories to the press, and we want to encourage you to share these enrollment stories also. You can find previous stories here.
Let us know if you want to be included on our email list of the first people to hear about these stories.
